SCC Prevents Transport of Over Two Kilograms of Ketamine Hidden in Coffee Packages
The State Revenue Committee's Department for Combating Smuggling and the Meghri Customs Checkpoint staff recently conducted a joint inspection of the luggage of Iranian citizen S.H. at the Meghri checkpoint, resulting in the discovery of approximately 900 grams of crystalline ketamine hidden within coffee packages. This was reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the SCC.
Through analytical and explanatory work conducted by the antis-muggling department personnel, information was obtained that S.H. was carrying out his smuggling activities in collaboration with a fellow countryman.
As a result of urgent measures taken, the next day, Iranian citizen M.M. was found in the departure lounge of Zvartnots Airport, preparing for a flight to Doha-Kuala Lumpur via Yerevan. Jointly with aviation security special inspection staff, a customs inspection of the luggage revealed a total of 1 kilogram and 335 grams of ketamine concealed in 49 packages of coffee, which he intended to transport to a third country.
Based on the materials compiled by the Division for Combating Smuggling, criminal cases have been initiated in the Investigative Division of the SCC, and the Iranian citizens have been arrested.
