Russian Ministry of Defense Details Missile Attack on Boeing 737-800

The Israeli Army struck Syrian territory at the exact moment a passenger plane with 172 people on board was landing from Tehran, Iran. The aircraft's crew miraculously managed to change the plane's direction. The passenger plane was forced to land at the Khmeimim airbase in Russia.

This information was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense press service. According to the agency, starting at 2 AM, Israeli Air Force F-16 fighter jets targeted the Syrian airspace around Damascus with eight air-to-ground missiles.

Syrian government forces conducted operations to repel the Israeli Air Force's airstrike, actively utilizing air defense missile systems. Analysis of the data from the objective air situation management system also confirmed that an Airbus A320 passenger aircraft was preparing to land near Damascus International Airport at the time of the Israeli fighter jets' attack, immediately changing its direction.

It is worth recalling that about a month ago, on January 11, Iranian forces shot down a Ukrainian International Airlines Boeing 737-800, which was carrying 176 passengers, with two missiles. The aircraft exploded, and all individuals on board were killed.
