82-Year-Old Woman Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle in Alaverdi
On February 7, a tragic incident occurred in the Lori region. At around 19:40, the police department of Tumanyan received a report from the "Alaverdi" medical center that an 82-year-old resident of Alaverdi's Sanahin Sarahart neighborhood, Nina A., had been admitted for medical assistance due to a fractured right shoulder. According to her son, Varuzhan N., the injury was sustained after she fell on the street.
As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, shortly thereafter, the senior operative V. Paranyan from the criminal investigation department of the police in Tumanyan received operational information that Nina A. had been struck by a vehicle driven by 60-year-old Gagik Shahbazaryan while reversing in the yard of their building around 18:30 that same day. G. Shahbazaryan, who was summoned to the Tumanyan police department, confessed to causing the incident.
At approximately 21:15, the police received another report from the "Alaverdi" medical center that Nina A. had died in the hospital around 20:55. The Lori regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia is preparing materials regarding the incident. G. Shahbazaryan was released with a signature, and the vehicle has been moved to a secured area of the Tumanyan police department.
According to G. Shamshyan's information, driver G. Shahbazaryan works at the Akhtala Mining and Processing Plant as the head of external relations.
