Death Toll from Avalanche in Turkey Reaches 38

In eastern Turkey, an avalanche has claimed at least 38 lives and left 75 others injured. The incident occurred in Van province. Among the victims are members of the gendarmerie, firefighters, and other personnel involved in rescue efforts.

According to the BBC, search and rescue operations have been suspended due to the risk of a third avalanche. The operations, involving 700 rescuers, will resume once inspections of the area are completed later today.
