Driver Crossed Median Strip, Entered Oncoming Lane and Overturned

Materials are being prepared by Senior Investigator Bakur Saribekyan of the 4th Battalion of the 2nd Police Division regarding a traffic accident that occurred on January 30 in the Gegharkunik region. At around 14:30, 64-year-old Vartan Kirkoryan, a citizen of the USA, while driving his Nissan vehicle with the license plate 36 MQ 922, crossed over the median strip on the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan highway at the 72 km mark, heading towards Yerevan, under still unknown circumstances, veered into the oncoming lane and overturned.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, driver V. Kirkoryan and his passengers, residents of Tavush province, 79-year-old Robert S. and 75-year-old Nina S., were hospitalized with injuries at the “Sevan” Medical Center. Officers from the 1st squad of the 4th Battalion of the 2nd Police Division arrived at the scene under the leadership of Battalion Commander Edgar Suslian and Squad Commander Ara Shahnazaryan.
