Former Minister Appeals to Special Investigation Service to Present Information

The former Minister of Justice of Armenia, Davit Harutyunyan, has submitted a written application to the Special Investigation Service to disclose information he possesses regarding the lease of property by the Notary Chamber. This was stated by Harutyunyan during an interview on 168 TV’s program "Pressing," commenting on the criminal case initiated against the President of the Constitutional Court, Hrayr Tovmasyan.

He mentioned that he has offered to provide information that he controls, but there has yet to be a response. "I don’t want to open the curtains now about what information I possess, but I can say that what was presented in the second episode of the report (broadcast by Public Television) has no relation to reality. It was an extremely manipulative approach," Harutyunyan said.

According to him, the Public Television report violated the presumption of innocence. It exerts terrible pressure on the judicial authority, particularly since a judicial process has not yet taken place. "It’s as if a final judicial decision is being issued and a message is being sent to the courts about what is expected of them," Harutyunyan added.
