Armen Sarkissian Receives Japanese Ambassador to Armenia
President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian received the Ambassador of Japan to Armenia, Jun Yamada. This was reported by the Public Relations Department of the Office of the President of Armenia.
The ambassador expressed gratitude on behalf of the Japanese government to President Sarkissian for visiting Japan last October and attending the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Naruhito in Tokyo. He noted that the meetings held in Tokyo serve as a new impetus for the development of bilateral relations.
In response, President Sarkissian stated that he has wonderful memories and impressions from his visit to Japan and the historical event of Emperor Naruhito’s enthronement. Evaluating his discussions with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, and leaders of major Japanese companies, President Sarkissian mentioned that these meetings lay a solid foundation for expanding cooperation.
Highlighting a recent meeting in Davos with the Chairman of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, the Armenian president said he and his partners were invited to Armenia to continue discussions on cooperation prospects and develop joint projects in high technologies, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence and big data management, within the framework of the presidential ATOM (Advanced Tomorrow) initiative.
Opportunities for expanding cooperation in nuclear safety and regulations, including the management of nuclear waste, were also discussed.
