Hayk Sukiasyan Released from Military Service

The government of the Republic of Armenia decided in its meeting today to exempt Hayk Tigran Sukiasyan from mandatory military service. Sukiasyan is currently studying at the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia in Madrid.

The justification for this decision includes endorsement letters from prominent figures such as Tigran Mansuryan, Armenia's ambassador to Germany Ashot Smbatyan, Eduard Topchyan, Stepan Rostomyan, Medea Abrahamyan, Alexander Chavushyan, Levon Chilinkiryan, Levon Chavushyan, and Marianna Shirinyan.

Hayk Sukiasyan’s achievements include winning third place at the international competition for young soloists “DR. RICHARD BELLON” held in Germany in October 2013. He was also a laureate of the “Semper Music International Competition 2017” held in Italy in July 2017.

In April 2018, he won first prize at the “XVI CMCET Concurso Música de Cámara Ecoparque Trasmiera” competition in Spain, and was recognized as the “Best Instrumentalist.” In June 2019, he was awarded the title of the best cellist of the year in Spain and received awards from Queen Sofia of Spain on two occasions.

Since 2017, Hayk Sukiasyan has formed two chamber music groups, the Trío fundación Mahou San Miguel and Cuarteto Mendelssohn BP, with which he is actively engaged in concert activities.

With the approval of the draft government decision “On Exempting Hayk Tigran Sukiasyan from Mandatory Military Service,” he will have the opportunity to promote Armenian performing arts on international platforms.
