Hacker Breaches Haik Alumyans' Email: What Information Was There?
The email of Haik Alumyan, a member of the legal team of Armenia's second President Robert Kocharian, was hacked on January 4 of this year. It has not been functional since then.
In a conversation with Panorama.am, the lawyer stated that initially he believed it to be the work of hackers. “I was expecting a message from the hackers offering to pay to restore the email. But no message came. I don’t think there are altruistic hackers who hack emails just for the sake of it. Therefore, the hacker scenario is excluded for me. It remains to assume that our special services did it,” Alumyans said.
According to him, there is significant information containing attorney-client privilege in the email. He now considers it pointless to approach cybersecurity specialists and law enforcement. “If they have accessed the email, extracted information, and made it available to certain individuals, restoring the email becomes a trivial matter. Ultimately, who should I report the crime to, those bodies that I most likely suspect of being involved in all of this?” the lawyer noted, adding that he now has a new email account.
It is noteworthy that days ago, the legal team of former NSS director Arthur Vanetsyan reported attempts to hack the email of lawyer Aramazd Kiviryanyan.
