Details from the Meeting of Mnatsakanyan and Mamedyarov Announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
On January 29 and 30, a meeting took place between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Elmar Mamedyarov, with the mediation and participation of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group: Igor Popov (Russia), Stefan Visconti (France), and Andrew Schofer (USA), as well as the personal representative of the OSCE chairperson-in-office, Andzhey Kasprzyk, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This meeting was preceded by a discussion between the Armenian Foreign Minister and the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group along with the personal representative of the OSCE chairperson-in-office.
During the three-day intensive discussions, a wide range of issues related to the peaceful resolution process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was addressed, including the implementation of agreements reached in 2019 and the proposals discussed, potential next steps aimed at preparing the peoples for peace, as well as principles and elements that will serve as the basis for future resolutions. The timeline and agenda directed at advancing the resolution process were also discussed.
Minister Mnatsakanyan emphasized the necessity of involving chosen representatives of the Artsakh people in the peaceful process. The foreign ministers agreed to meet again in the near future under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
