We Will Be Giving Away All This: Tevan Poghosyan's Call

The Advisor to the President of Armenia, Tevan Poghosyan, has made a call for unity on his Facebook page, urging everyone to come together.

“I have been talking about unity, political consensus, and defining our red lines together since 2018. Almost every week, nearly every day. Publicly and at any gathering. Some listened, smiled, and moved on, others ignored it, and some agreed and forgot. Perhaps I was ahead of my time.

Anyone who hasn’t lost their ability to judge will see that we have reached a point where we can clearly state: let’s see what Tevan Poghosyan has been passionately expressing all this time. In 2018, the previous government was indifferent, the new one hasn’t shown much enthusiasm either, and now it seems that the current government, two years in, is indifferent as well. However, I hope that the former leaders will be attentive. People, let’s sit around the negotiating table for national consensus.

We will be giving away all this. Let’s find that consensus aimed at a jointly united future, negotiate, outline our red lines, and move forward with that.

I hope this time I am not ahead of history again. Simply put, an Armenian cannot build an honest future for himself by harming another Armenian; the grandchildren of the other will tell this story in their own way. Let’s stop undermining each other. Let’s heal the wounds we have already opened without creating new ones. Let’s simply build anew.
