Urgent Meeting Today Regarding ‘My Step’ Council Member: Will He Be Expelled from the Faction and Party?
Today, the ‘My Step’ faction will hold an urgent meeting, after which a statement will be issued. This was announced by the ‘My Step’ faction of the Yerevan City Council.
“Dear citizens, we strongly condemn any manifestation of hate speech. We ask for your forgiveness regarding the incident. Tomorrow, the My Step faction will convene an urgent meeting, after which we will make a statement,” the announcement said.
The mayor of Armavir and a member of the Civil Contract party, Davit Khudatyan, also wrote on his Facebook page: “The supervisory commission of the Civil Contract party deems unacceptable the Facebook statement by Henrik Hartenyan, a member of the ‘My Step’ council faction and the Civil Contract party, which clearly contradicts the values and principles adopted by the party. Hate speech and intolerance are highly condemnable. The incident will be reviewed by the supervisory commission.”
It is worth mentioning that ‘My Step’ council member Henrik Hartenyan posted a photo of Hrayr Tovmasyan's daughter on his Facebook page, stating, “H. Tovmasyan's daughter’s fb, I want to see you, dear people.” This has become a subject of criticism on social networks. The council member later deleted his post. It is also noted that the page shared by the council member on Facebook is not the page of Hrayr Tovmasyan's daughter. Relatives of the girl depicted on the page have asked to refrain from sharing photos of their relative in various comments.
