Simonyan Suggests Vanetsyan Take His Proposal to the Streets
Alen Simonyan, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, does not take seriously the proposal made by former Director of the National Security Service, Arthur Vanetsyan, regarding searching for a new candidate for Prime Minister from the ranks of the Civil Contract party.
Simonyan stated this during an interview on ‘Azatutyun’ (Freedom) radio. He expressed that he finds the suggestion insincere, noting that the Prime Minister is not just a candidate from a political party, but also represents the entire populace, having been elected by hundreds of thousands of people.
“I suggest Mr. Vanetsyan go out into the street, make this proposal in the square adjacent to the Opera House, and see how the citizens will respond,” Simonyan said.
Referring to Vanetsyan's appointment as the Director of the NSS, Alen Simonyan mentioned that he himself had proposed Vanetsyan's candidacy to the Prime Minister and now expresses regret over the current situation that has arisen.
