Photographs: The Municipality Had No Right to Issue Such Construction Permits, Says Khajakyan

David Khajakyan, a member of the Yerevan City Council ‘Light’ faction, wrote on his Facebook page:

“The issues surrounding construction permits reach backyards and harm the legal interests of residents. In the accompanying image, you can see construction work taking place in the backyard of the building at Republic 58, which began with a construction permit issued by Marutyan, at the expense of the backyard area. Work has been conducted that obstructs residents' access, with excavation having taken place without obtaining residents' consent. The municipality has allowed alterations to the communal property of the building, disregarding several safety concerns. Thanks to the residents' efforts, the construction was de jure halted by a court decision.

Now, it turns out that despite the municipality officials' leniency, work has continued in a concealed manner, and construction has progressed beyond the state existing at the time of the court's decision. I expect a response from the relevant departments in anticipation of appropriate administrative actions. I inform the media that residents are willing to present the details of their issue and establish that the municipality had no right to issue such construction permits. I am ready to provide the residents’ contact details.

The images also show excavation work in the shared backyard area, which significantly obstructs the movement of residents in the adjacent entrances.
