‘Zhoghovurd’. Did Kutyuyan Have Serious Financial Problems?
‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper reports that the investigative body has sent a letter to the British Ambassador in Armenia regarding the criminal case opened in connection with the suicide of former NSS Director Georgi Kutyuyan.
Recall that on January 17, the body of former National Security Service Director Georgi Kutyuyan was found in his apartment. According to information obtained by the newspaper, the investigative body is currently checking the incoming and outgoing phone calls of Georgi Kutyuyan and his family members to understand who spoke to the former NSS director, when, and what was discussed.
The newspaper also received reports that Kutyuyan had serious financial problems. The Investigative Committee of Armenia, in sending a request to the embassy, has asked for assistance and information regarding the former NSS Director Georgi Kutyuyan’s academic activities in Britain, inquiring specifically about how he studied, whether he successfully passed his exams, what problems he faced during his studies, and other details.
Another interesting piece of information is that Kutyuyan was studying law at St. Edmund's College with a Cambridge Trust scholarship. This means that he did not fund his studies in Britain with his own resources.
