Unprecedented Amount of Weapons and Ammunition: Armenia Closes the Shameful Chapter of 1980s Arms, Says Nikol Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced a list of 100 facts about Armenia, stating that the armed forces have been replenished with artillery, anti-aircraft systems, firearms, ammunition, and 310 units of automotive equipment. He emphasized that samples of weaponry have been tested, indicating that the government has closed the shameful chapter of 1980s arms.

Pashinyan noted that the acquired weaponry is either produced in 2019 or is completely unused, meaning it is factory-fresh. In the 2020 budget, the Ministry of Defense has been allocated 307 billion drams, which is 28 percent or 66 billion drams more than the actual figures for 2018, and approximately 4.5 percent more compared to 2017.

Since May 2018, Armenia has acquired an unprecedented amount of weapons and ammunition for a visible period of time, including multifunctional Su-30SM aircraft, and TOR-M2KM and Osa-AK air defense systems.
