Yerevan Appoints New Police Chief
On January 24, Arman Sargsyan, the acting head of the Police of Armenia, signed several orders. According to shamshyan.com, one of the orders relieved Armen Gasparyan, chief of the Tavush Regional Police, from his position.
In another order, Gasparyan was appointed as the head of the Yerevan City Police Department.
Additionally, another order from Sargsyan terminated Garik Ghukasyan, the head of the Yerevan City Police Department, who has now been sent to the police reserve.
Sources indicate that both Ghukasyan and Gasparyan are considered “veterans” of the police force and are well-versed in their duties. Gasparyan is widely recognized in the law enforcement community as “Commissioner Katani.”
