After the Statement from Vanetsyan's Defenders, One of Their Emails has Become Inaccessible
Former head of the National Security Service, Arthur Vanetsyan's defenders Lusine Sahakyan and Aramazd Kiviryann have released a statement, noting that yesterday, after it became public that they are Vanetsyan's representatives, attempts were made to hack Aramazd Kiviryann's email.
The defenders' statement is presented below:
"Yesterday, on January 23, 2020, at 2:30 PM, information was made public via Facebook that we are the representatives of Arthur Vanetsyan, the former director of the NSS of Armenia. Specifically, we publicly demanded the retraction of the false information presented in an article published on armtimes.com on January 12, 2020. Shortly thereafter, measures began to hack attorney Aramazd Kiviryann's email, which was linked to his Facebook account. Following a notification from the Gmail network regarding the incident, the email became inaccessible for A. Kiviryann.
This incident is an unprecedented disgrace, a violation not only of the rights protected by Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights but also a direct attack on the legally protected confidentiality of attorney-client communications. Under such circumstances, we can consider that legal practice in Armenia is currently under threat.
In light of what has occurred, we declare that any attempt to obstruct our professional activities has never succeeded and any such actions taken in the future will also be fruitless. We remind the authors of these actions and those who issue them illegal orders that such tactics are criminal and will inevitably lead to criminal liability. We call on these individuals not to succumb to current temptations but to regain their composure and return to the realm of law and justice. Human rights are of supreme value, which must be sacredly protected, and these rights are afforded to all without exception, and no one is guaranteed that they might not need to protect their rights in the future."
