Heavy Snowfall Expected, Temperatures to Drop: Surenyan

The head of the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations’ hydrometeorology center, Gagik Surenyan, has posted on his Facebook page:

“A cold atmospheric front is expected to penetrate into the territory of the Republic this evening from the Black Sea. On the evening of January 23, snowfall is anticipated in the western and central regions of the country, with significant snowfall expected in many areas overnight. Tomorrow during the day, particularly in Vayots Dzor, Syunik, and Artsakh, snowfall will continue. The expected snow thickness will be 5-8 cm, and in Lori and Tavush, it will be 1-2 cm.

On the night of January 24 to 25, temperatures are expected to drop by 8-10 degrees, but will rise again by the same amount starting January 28. In Yerevan, snowfall will begin late this evening and will continue throughout the night, with precipitation expected to cease tomorrow during the day. The expected snow thickness in Yerevan will be 4-5 cm.”
