Draft Law Preventing Pensioners Unable to Visit Banks from Losing Benefits Passed
The Armenian Parliament has passed in the first reading a draft law authored by the 'Enlightened Armenia' faction, amending the 'State Pensions' law. According to the draft, if a pensioner with a disability has mobility issues, their presence in Armenia can be confirmed remotely by a bank, based on the pensioner's preference, without the need to visit the bank, in accordance with the procedures set by the Government.
The draft was approved with 111 votes in favor and 5 abstentions. While presenting the draft, LHK MP Mane Tandilyan emphasized that there are numerous cases where pensioners are physically unable to visit banks, which leads to them being deprived of their pensions.
