Violations of Standards in Gas Filling Stations and Mortuaries
Last year, the Health and Labor Inspectorate carried out more than 350 administrative proceedings against gas filling stations due to sanitary and hygienic issues in their restrooms, resulting in significant corrections. This information was reported on the Inspectorate's Facebook page.
Approximately 270 administrative proceedings were initiated in relation to the control of drug circulation, based on incoming complaints, calls received through a hotline, and information obtained regarding the presence of unmarked drugs that raised suspicions in terms of being registered and legally imported into Armenia.
Widespread inspections were conducted in the morgue departments of medical facilities in the Gegharkunik and Ararat regions, leading to numerous recorded violations and orders for their rectification. This process is ongoing in other regions as well.
Additionally, extensive inspections were carried out at construction sites to ensure compliance with safety regulations for workers.
In 2020, for the first time in its activity, the Inspectorate will operate based on an inspection program, which includes around 200 companies that have been evaluated for risk. In addition to the scheduled inspections, there will also be unscheduled ones based on information received through the hotline, media, and in the form of applications and complaints.
So far, the Inspectorate has conducted administrative proceedings on its own initiative. At the end of 2019, with the savings of the Inspectorate, new work equipment and computer technology were acquired by a government decision, thus improving working conditions. The severely outdated furniture and old equipment were replaced; previously, 2-3 employees had to work on one computer that was not functioning properly.
To respond to the challenges imposed on the Inspectorate, especially to effectively carry out inspection work at border crossing points, the vehicle fleet of the Inspectorate has been updated and equipped. Eleven vehicles were allocated by a government decision, and another eight were provided by the EAEU on a partnership basis.
