VIDEO: Accept the fact that you are now in a new parliament, Rubinyan tells Marukyan
The National Assembly continues its four-day session today. The parliament did not accept the proposal of the LHK to establish an inquiry committee.
Yesterday, LHK deputy Ani Samsonyan mentioned that certain cause-and-effect links containing corruption risks had been identified during the investigation. "The companies that transferred property to the community also received certain permits from the city hall," she stated.
Edmon Marukyan, in his speech, noted that the ruling party demonstrated a lack of political will to investigate the corruption risks in the city hall. "The question has already been on the parliamentary platform, and the Yerevan council does not decide on the constitutional or unconstitutional nature of parliament's powers. This is a bad precedent; there has never been such a precedent in previous parliaments, where the constitutional powers of the opposition have been undermined in this way. For the first time since the revolution, a regression at the constitutional level is being recorded. You are afraid to examine the corruption risks of the city hall. The council decides what parliament should do, and beyond that, what inclusion there is," he said.
Ruben Rubinyan, a representative of the ruling party, called on Marukyan to express himself more correctly. "If you miss the previous parliament, you can go have coffee with your former colleagues. Accept the fact that you are now in a new parliament. What difference do your thoughts make, whether it is a disgrace or everything is normal?" After this, Edmon Marukyan interrupted Rubinyan, and a verbal altercation broke out among the deputies.
