The Scandal Surrounding Azerbaijani Eyvazov and Armenian Singer Mantashyan Has Been Resolved

The press secretary of the European Armenian Musical Foundation (EAMF) has provided an update on the scandal involving Armenian soprano Rouzan Mantashyan and Azerbaijani tenor Yusuf Eyvazov. The situation appears to have reached a logical resolution.

On Sunday evening, EAMF President Dr. Ashot Grigoryan received a call from Mr. Hans-Joachim Frey, the artistic director of the Semper Opera Ball, who expressed a strong desire to connect with Dr. Grigoryan, facilitated by Mr. Frey’s excellent friend, world-recognized boxing champion Arthur Abraham. Shortly after, Mr. Frey contacted Dr. Grigoryan and requested to alleviate the significant pressure being exerted by the EAMF presidency, proposing a compromise solution.

After extensive discussions, Dr. Grigoryan agreed to negotiate with the head of Rouzan Mantashyan's agency, Rene Massis of Agence Massis Opéra. Later that evening, a lengthy phone conversation took place between Dr. Grigoryan and Mr. Massis, in which both parties agreed to present an acceptable compromise to Mr. Frey on behalf of the Armenian side.

Today, Dr. Grigoryan plans to present a reconciliatory proposal to Mr. Frey, seeking to come to a mutual understanding. It is important to note that this unforeseen rapid victory in what has been perceived as a 'war' is a significant achievement. Regardless of how the parties proceed, this serves as a victory against the Azerbaijani side and a powerful rebuke to them, while importantly paving a path for a bright future for the Armenian singer.

Regardless of the conditions for collaborating with Mr. Frey, the EAMF will continue to apply pressure on the notorious Azerbaijani tenor, whose disgraceful behavior has garnered infamy within the musical world, and will reach out to all notable opera theaters where the Azerbaijani tenor performs, condemning his nationalistic and ethnocentric approaches that are incompatible with culture.

Once again, it should be mentioned that the EAMF did not even dare to dream of such a swift victory. The EAMF thanks beloved Hasmik Papyan for raising this question first, along with all renowned musicians and activists who supported the EAMF and the Armenian singer in this short but crucial struggle, including Mr. Slavomir Jakobik (co-chair of the ASArt agency), Sergey Khachaturyan (violinist), Vardges Tumanyan (singer), Arthur Aharonyan (composer), Lusine Khachatryan (pianist), Bishop Tiran Petrosyan (bishop, leader of the Armenian Church in Central Europe and Scandinavia), Hrachuhi Basents (singer), Sargis Bzhbeyk-Melikyan (Germany), Karine Gevorgyan (political scientist), and others. Further steps will be communicated to the public in due time.
