Journalists Investigate: Process of Installing Barriers in Yerevan Yards Out of Control
«Journalists» newspaper writes: Recently, the number of barriers installed in the yards of residential buildings in Yerevan is growing rapidly, operating out of control. Firstly, it is unclear who or which companies are carrying out the installation work of these barriers and under whose supervision.
But that’s not all. The newspaper conducted a small investigation and found that the service for installing barriers in yard areas can reach up to 500,000 drams. There are individuals who charge between 450,000 and 480,000 drams for this work. If residents need 30-40 remote control panels, they can buy each for 3,000 drams, while if they need one or two, prices start at 6,000 drams and can reach up to 15,000 drams.
One of the residents expressed dissatisfaction, saying, “I bought an apartment, I want to enter the yard, I don’t have a remote. I ask for a remote, they tell me to wait 2-3 months, we don’t have any. In other words, I have restrictions on free movement in my own city. This is a violation of the Constitution.” He pointed out that the “remote” is sold without a cash register receipt.
The newspaper also attempted to clarify with the Yerevan municipality whether this process is being monitored. It turned out that the legal relations regarding barriers are not regulated by legislation. They were directed to the Central Administrative District, where it was explained that the installation of barriers is monitored by the administrative staff and is legal.
