It’s the Same as Demanding a Maternity Hospital Near Every Building in Yerevan: Prime Minister
During a discussion in the National Assembly today regarding the closure of maternity hospitals, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan raised a question about why Maralik serves 25 other communities and why there is no maternity hospital in each community. He answered his own question by stating that it is not a logical demand.
“It’s roughly the same as demanding that every building in Yerevan have a maternity hospital,” Pashinyan said.
Pashinyan questioned why it is acceptable for residents from nearby communities to travel to Maralik but not to nearby cities such as Artik or Gyumri, which are of similar distance. According to the Prime Minister, it may be more appropriate to repair the roads and ensure the availability of ambulances so that pregnant women can reach maternity hospitals without issues.
