Hakob Karapetyan Appeals to Edmon Marukyan

Yerevan City Hall spokesperson Hakob Karapetyan made the following post on his Facebook page: “The day before yesterday, during the discussion in the National Assembly, MP Ani Samsonyan, among other points, addressed the false information regarding the funding of the municipality instead of purchasing KamAZ trucks. Ms. Samsonyan stated that they (the LHK faction) 'had information about this, but based on that information, did not act' (the capitalization is mine).

Let me remind you that on December 4, 2019, Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the LHK faction in the National Assembly, publicly stated literally the following: 'Let me reveal one more thing that hasn’t been disclosed until now. Those companies that bought the KamAZ trucks did not buy the KamAZ trucks, do you know? They gave money to the municipality, the municipality bought them, money, they gave money to the municipality.'

And on December 23, David Khajakyan, the leader of the 'Lus' faction in the Yerevan Council and an LHK member, stated on air: 'People transferred money, they didn’t buy KamAZ trucks to donate, they transferred money.'

The insightful MP Ani Samsonyan can confidently conclude from these quotations that her political leader Edmon Marukyan made a claim, while she, Ms. Samsonyan, as I mentioned, was discussing the contrary the day before. Now, while the esteemed colleagues clarify this contradiction among themselves, I propose to respond to the following questions directed at the esteemed MP Edmon Marukyan:

1. Does he still insist that the municipality received money as a gift and not KamAZ trucks? If yes, then is he prepared to present evidence; b) If not, then is he prepared to issue a relevant statement for misleading the public with false information?
