Armen Sarkissian to Attend International Conference in Israel Commemorating the Holocaust at the Invitation of the Israeli President

The President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, will travel to Israel on January 22 at the invitation of Israeli President Reuven Rivlin to participate in the 5th International Conference dedicated to the commemoration of the Holocaust.

The conference, titled "Remembering the Holocaust, Fighting Against Anti-Semitism," will be held at Yad Vashem, the memorial center for Holocaust victims, marking the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and reinforcing the message that anti-Semitism should have no place in the present world.

Leaders from more than 40 countries, including Russia, France, Germany, Italy, Finland, Portugal, Sweden, Hungary, Slovakia, and Iceland, will gather at Yad Vashem. They will lay wreaths at the memorial to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, created by world-renowned Jewish sculptor and painter Nathan Rapoport.

The conference is taking place under the auspices of Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and is organized by the "World Forum for Holocaust Remembrance," led by scholar and philanthropist Moshe Kantor, in cooperation with Yad Vashem.

In Jerusalem, President Sarkissian will hold bilateral meetings with leaders from several participating countries. He will also meet with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein, and other officials, and will visit the Armenian Patriarchate in Jerusalem.

The President of the Republic of Armenia will also visit educational institutions in Israel.
