They Are Not Human: Mikael Minasian

Former Armenian ambassador to the Vatican Mikael Minasian writes: “Goodbye to the greatest illusion. They are not human.

When the ‘Revolution of Love and Velvet’ took place, the biggest illusion was that it was happening for every citizen of our country. That every person should own their and their country's fate; that any change should be ‘human-centered.’ Therefore, during those days, words were lavishly spent on living dignified, safe lives, without cameras and corruption, and of course, with cheap gas. This was supposedly secured by the ‘economic revolution’—with massive investments, taxes coming out of the shadow and into the budget, and an unprecedented number of jobs.

What actually happened? The cameras did not disappear; they increased. Traffic was not regulated; it worsened. Moreover, a draconian point system was introduced; gas did not become cheaper but will soon increase. Investments not only did not remain the same but decreased. Instead of living with dignity, every day there are protests against illogical decisions. Instead of safety, we have terror over what kind of people will make decisions regarding the security of our country.

But the collapse of the biggest illusion is not just the above. Ironically, the biggest failure of this government is the absolute fiasco of its most popular slogan. If today one could characterize the atmosphere in Armenia, it would not be ‘love and velvet.’ Current hostile, intolerant, and hate-filled public sentiments resemble a madhouse. Now people are even ashamed to enter social networks. Such manifestations of public relations and network postings make one want to sink into the ground. This government, through its trolls and paid posters, places any event, even death, in such a public discourse that many genuinely do not know how to react—whether to scold, debate, or simply curse.

But the problem here is not the transformation of the ‘love and velvet’ atmosphere into hatred. Instead, society is gradually revealing a simple truth. They are not human, in the most common and widespread sense of the word. They have never been and will never be.

They are not human because they are incapable of simple human compassion. They will not express condolences and will not even be ashamed for that.

They are not human because they spare neither opponents nor their own families.

They are not human because they lie persistently, grandly, and for as long as it takes until they need to concoct a new lie.

They are not human because they did everything to seize power, and in order to maintain their position, they are ready to sacrifice anyone, trampling over sanctity and denying everyone.

They are not human, and they are not men either. Hiding behind fake user profiles, they attack, insult, and morally annihilate those who disagree with them like wolves.

Then, without batting an eye, they lie about not having trolls.

They are not human. Do not attempt to work with them. They will make you work; they will attribute what you have done to themselves, and in the end, instead of gratitude, they will defame you and launch a criminal case against you.

They are not human because the only way they have chosen to communicate with political opponents or rivals is through terror—endless criminal cases, checks, and direct threats.

They are not human; coming to power through media, today they speak to their former colleagues with open threats.

They are not human because they spread animosity, drawing the most disgusting dividing lines. They truly are not human. And perhaps they have never been. And they will never become, under any circumstance. They are an ordinary failed, ungrateful, corrupt group, aggressive about their own political success, that cannot even notice how they have already squandered two-thirds of their past success.

Therefore, they must be removed—everyone, together, in unison, and very quickly, before they completely destroy the country and the people. And do not be disheartened by tales of irreplaceability. Whether in April 2018 or since then, every day brings forth honorable leaders who uphold humanity and are capable of standing for the dreams of the people, dreams that are so trampled today.

P.S. By the way, this government obsessively monitors who likes my posts among Facebook addicts. These people are directly warned; their parents are intimidated, and they do everything to decrease the number of likes so that the main Facebook addict is informed that no one is following and reading me.

Request to everyone: Do not like, do not comment, do not share my posts. I know that you are many. They know that you are many, too. And you are increasing day by day. Meanwhile, their fear is also increasing day by day. Fear and anxiety. Because they have understood that they will be punished to the fullest extent of the law. And they will pay for deceiving an entire people perfectly.
