VIDEO: The Burden is Once Again Placed on the People, Says Tsarukyan

Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia faction, commented today during a press conference in parliament on the recent protests by butchers in front of the Government building.

“Today, the slaughterhouses are once again placing the same burden on the people. If a person has to pay to have their animal slaughtered and then also pay transportation costs, it means that when they hand over their animal, they should receive 250,000 drams. Thus, they must pay 20,000 for transportation and 25,000 for the slaughter. In any country, the state subsidizes agriculture for such circumstances. Someone with 3-4 cows is considered a farmer, and they slaughter once every three months to sustain themselves. We all know the difficult situation in agriculture. You know that half a bottle of water costs 200 drams today, while milk costs 110 or 120 drams. A person takes care of their livestock, and yet milk is cheaper than water today. We must pay attention to the fact that agriculture is what feeds the people,” said Gagik Tsarukyan.
