The Farmer Does Not Suffer: Gevorg Avetisyan
The head of the Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia, Gevorg Avetisyan, addressing the protests of meat sellers, wrote on his Facebook page:
“Just days ago, I predicted that the main risk in the transition to slaughterhouse meat is that 'middlemen,' whose main job is transferring meat, might attempt to mislead the farmers. A farmer who keeps one or two animals has never independently brought his meat to Yerevan; owners of small shops have never ventured into villages to buy and transport one or two heads of livestock. This link has always been ensured by other individuals. I hope you all understand that the only transformation that can happen is the increase in those who provide civilized transportation in the fields. The farmer does not suffer,” he wrote.
