International Tourism Records 4% Growth: UN
The number of international tourist arrivals reached the milestone of 1.5 billion in 2019, according to a report released by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) on January 20.
According to their information, this figure is an increase of 4% compared to 2018, when the number of travelers heading to other countries was 1.4 billion. The UNWTO noted that this growth trend is expected to continue this year, projected to be around 3-4%.
Last year, tourist arrivals in Europe increased by 4%. The level of foreign tourism grew by 5% in the Asia-Pacific region and by 4% in Africa. In the Americas, this figure increased by 2%. Additionally, the Middle East registered an 8% growth.
