Illegal Drug Acquisition and Distribution Cases Uncovered: Investigative Committee

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has disclosed incidents regarding the illegal acquisition and distribution of drugs, in collaboration with the criminal police department of the Republic of Armenia following extensive investigative and operational measures.

In a criminal case currently under investigation by the Committee's main division for human trafficking, sexual integrity of minors, and drug-related crimes, two cases of illegal drug acquisition and sale have been identified, along with the circumstances and mechanisms behind these actions. Charges have been brought against a 31-year-old resident of Yerevan, identified as S.H.

During the preliminary investigation, it was established that on November 25, 2018, S.H. illegally sold a type of drug known as "marijuana" to a 30-year-old resident of Yerevan under the pretense of offering it as a gift in the yard of a building in the Davtashen 1st neighborhood of Yerevan. With sufficient evidence collected, S.H. has been charged under Part 1 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.

A search of S.H.'s residence revealed a mass weighing 0.28 grams, which, according to the conclusion of the forensic expert, is identified as "marijuana." The investigation has established and confirmed that this drug was illicitly sold to S.H. by a 28-year-old resident of the Lori region. A search of this individual’s home uncovered a mass weighing 233 grams, characterized by a distinct marijuana odor and green color. The seized items have been sent for examination.

A decision has been made to arrest the 28-year-old man, and the execution of this order has been entrusted to the investigative body.
