Attempt to Smuggle Over 5 Kg of Methamphetamine Prevented by Armenian Customs

The State Revenue Committee reports that its anti-smuggling department has uncovered yet another case of the illegal transit of large quantities of drugs through Armenia, during inspections carried out at the "Zvartnots" International Airport cargo complex.

During the inspection process, authorities discovered 5 kg and 150 grams of a substance resembling methamphetamine in an international shipment sent from Armenia to Japan on behalf of an Iranian citizen identified as S.Q. The substance was hidden within two cardboard boxes contained in the parcel.

As a result of immediate actions taken by the anti-smuggling department, the Iranian citizen who sent the shipment was located and apprehended the following day in Yerevan. He has since been arrested under a criminal case initiated by the Investigation Department of the State Revenue Committee.
