How Do I Load a 300-Kilogram Bull onto a ZIL? Protest Action

A protest is taking place near the government building where farmers are expressing their dissatisfaction with the mandatory slaughter requirements for livestock. Dozens of livestock breeders and farmers from various regions are participating in the action.

“I have livestock that I need to resell tomorrow, how can I transport it? It can’t be lifted, how do we load a 300-kilogram animal onto a ZIL?” exclaimed one of the protesters.

According to one of the participants, the cost of slaughtering one bull at the slaughterhouse is 18,000 to 20,000 drams, and for a pig, it is 8,000 drams. “Have they considered if the farmer has that much money left to take away? This amount does not include the transportation of the animal and then the meat,” the citizen added.

“No one will keep livestock because it’s unfeasible to bring them to the slaughterhouse. The price of meat will increase by 300 to 400 drams in the case of slaughtering at the slaughterhouse. Let them open a slaughterhouse in this community. For example, in Vayots Dzor, there is no slaughterhouse, should we bring them all the way from Masis? How can we do that?” complained the livestock breeders at the protest near the government building.

“I have 20 pigs, should I pay 160,000 drams for slaughtering to get the meat back? They should monitor our village veterinarians, inspect the pigs, give us permits, and let the farmers slaughter their livestock themselves,” added one of the attendees.
