On January 16, in accordance with an agreement reached with the authorities of Artsakh, the OSCE mission conducted a planned monitoring of the ceasefire along the contact line between Artsakh and Azerbaijan, in the northeastern section from Aknagh. The monitoring took place as scheduled, but the Azerbaijani side did not withdraw its positions.
The observation was conducted from the positions of the Artsakh Defense Army by field assistants of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Personal Representative (PR) Gennady Petriyan (Moldova) and Mihail Olaru (Moldova). From the opposite side of the border, the monitoring was carried out by the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Personal Representative, Ambassador Andzey Kasprzyk, his personal assistant Simon Tiller (UK), and PR Office staff member Martin Schuster (Germany).
