Ancient Burial Mound from 2nd-1st Millennium BC Discovered in Dalma Gardens Area

The Center for Public Awareness and Monitoring has posted on its Facebook page that an ancient burial mound from the 2nd-1st millennium BC, five threshing floors from the 19th century, and a warehouse from the same era have been discovered in the Dalma Gardens area.

Representatives of civil society had sent a letter to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan, and Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan on December 19, demanding an immediate halt to the construction activities taking place in Dalma Gardens. The government redirected the request to the Yerevan Municipality, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, and the Ministry of Environment.

Today, a response was received from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, stating that a burial mound from the 2nd-1st millennium BC, five threshing floors from the 19th century, and a warehouse from the same century have been discovered in the Dalma Gardens.

It is worth recalling that the expedition team formed by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports conducted a four-day study in the Dalma Gardens area from November 18-21, 2019.
