Shots Fired in the City of Metsamor
On January 15, shots were fired in the Ararat region. Around 3:00 PM, the Metsamor Police Department received a report that shots had been fired in front of the "Lider" sports complex in Metsamor city.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, an operational group from the Ararat Regional Police Department arrived at the scene, led by the department head Aram Hovhannisyan and the deputy head for operations, Armen Gasparyan.
An operational group from the Metsamor Police Department also arrived, headed by the department head Mikaelyan. Police received operational information that at that time, an unidentified person exited a Priora vehicle with an unregistered license plate and opened fire with a pistol at the entrance steps of the "Lider" sports complex, which belongs to 40-year-old Karen Keryobyan, a resident of Metsamor.
Afterward, the person approached was the deputy commander of the Emergency Response Team of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, 47-year-old Sahak Jilavyan, who made a remark to the shooter and attempted to disarm him. However, the shooter responded by striking Jilavyan in the face before fleeing in the Priora vehicle.
At the scene, police discovered a cartridge fired from a 7.62 caliber pistol.
