Serious Vetting Planned in the NSS and Police

The "Fact" newspaper reports that interesting developments have been taking place for quite some time around the security structures of the Republic of Armenia, largely due to the need for systemic changes in these institutions, which the current authorities wish to implement. It is no coincidence that this topic becomes the subject of broad discussion whenever the opportunity arises and is sharply criticized by civil society serving the government.

According to sources from the "Fact" newspaper, a new agenda has been introduced at this stage of the authorities' vision, according to which serious vetting is intended to be carried out in the National Security Service (NSS) and the police.

This is primarily due to the fact that various occasions have pushed civil society sectors serving the government to repeatedly raise the issues of lustration and transparent operations, continuously insisting on the thesis that they do not trust these two security structures, prompting the authorities to undertake such actions.

Our sources assert that the topic has become more relevant following recent developments related to former NSS director Arthur Vanetsyan. It is no coincidence that in recent days, in connection with a well-known article, certain representatives of civil society and pro-government circles had become particularly zealous and reignited discussions on this issue.
