Now is the Draft, the Rest I Leave to Your Mind and Conscience: MoD Spokesperson
Yesterday, shamshyan.com reported that the Shirak regional investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia is preparing materials regarding Colonel Arsen Tumanyan, the military commissioner of the Lori region of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, for committing an especially large-scale extortion.
In response to this news, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, wrote on his Facebook page:
“It’s simply disgraceful. Shamshyan has published material regarding the military commissioner of Lori region, and there is supposedly nothing defamatory in the headline. I say supposedly because the reader is left with numerous questions regarding this matter. The personal data is written incorrectly, the incident is described inaccurately, there are narrow personal issues involved, and if Mr. Shamshyan received this from the investigative body, he should have known better. If he was aware of this and still published it, to say the least... it’s bad. The person involved has been convicted and has previously participated in a serious crime. Mr. Shamshyan, you have found a 'great' time to publish such news, and undoubtedly, such news will not lack targeting; it has already spread on television as well. I remind you that now is the draft, and the rest I leave to your mind and conscience. This incident will remain as one of the disgraceful moments of Armenian journalism.”
