Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed the decision for the resignation of the Government. New appointments are underway. Accordingly, Putin has proposed the candidacy of Mikhail Mishustin, the head of the Federal Tax Service, for the position of Prime Minister. Mishustin has given his consent.

Mishustin's candidacy will be discussed in the State Duma on January 16. The Government of Russia has resigned in accordance with Article 117 of the Constitution. President Putin has thanked Dmitry Medvedev's government for their service.
