Families of Victims of Ukrainian Plane Crash Will Receive Compensation: Honcharuk

Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk announced today that families of the victims of the Ukrainian plane crash in Iran will receive compensation. This was reported by korrespondent.net.

The Prime Minister stated that the government will issue a relevant directive today. “Today we will make a decision regarding compensation for the families of those who died in the aviation accident in Iran. We will adopt a decision to pay 200,000 hryvnias (approximately $8,300) to each family, and we expect that these payments will be made by the end of the week,” Honcharuk said.

It was noted that the state one-time financial assistance will be provided from the reserve fund until all insurance payments are received by the families.

Recall that a Boeing 737-800 aircraft flying to Kyiv crashed shortly after departing from Tehran airport on January 8. According to official data, 176 people died in the crash, including citizens of Iran, Ukraine, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, and Afghanistan.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced on his Twitter account that “an internal investigation by the Armed Forces revealed that, unfortunately, the missiles fired due to human error led to the horrific disaster of the Ukrainian plane and the deaths of 176 innocent people.”
