Armenian Republic: We Will Face a Serious National Issue
The newspaper "Armenian Republic" reports that years ago, highlighting the decline in underground water levels in the Ararat Plain, it warned that the drop in those levels measured in meters would soon present us with a serious national issue. Subsequently, a management plan for the Ararat Basin was developed. We emphasized that this type of plan and its implementation are necessary not just for the Ararat Plain, but all watershed areas should have management plans. The Akhurian watershed area was not overlooked either.
Given the strategic importance of the sector, we are not neglecting it, periodically addressing various issues. What is the current situation, what is being done? We attempted to clarify this with the Ministry of Environment. The press secretary of the minister, Davit Grigoryan, informed us that in addition to the management plans for Ararat and Akhurian watersheds, there is also a plan for the Southern watershed, while the plans for Sevan and Hrazdan watersheds are in the development phase. However, we currently do not have a management plan for the Northern watershed, and it is not yet being developed.
