The Purpose of the Law is to Tame the Schumacher-type Drivers You Mentioned: Armen Khachatryan to Naira Zohrabyan
Member of the 'My Step' faction, Armen Khachatryan, has responded on his Facebook page to Naira Zohrabyan's publication regarding the points system titled 'No Driver, No Problem'. He wrote: 'Dear Ms. Zohrabyan, who will be held accountable for the 340 fatalities and 6,809 injuries from accidents in peaceful conditions last year, of which several hundred will remain permanently disabled? Why are you trying to mislead our citizens with assumptions, without waiting for the results of the new system and its statistics? Let me inform you that most traffic accidents resulting in casualties occur precisely on asphalt-covered and well-equipped roads. And does it not raise a question for you why many of our protesting drivers become law-abiding, disciplined, and very cautious outside the borders of Armenia, while here, for some, being disciplined is not respected?
It would have been better if, as an MP with a large audience, you called on traffic participants to always adhere to traffic rules, to not endanger both others and their own lives. Perhaps that call could have saved one more life. In response to your thought that even Schumachers cannot drive without violations, I must say that the purpose of this law is indeed to tame the Schumacher-type drivers you mentioned, and they will be the target of this law so that innocent people on the roads do not become their targets. This law aims to protect against those Schumacher-types.'
Khachatryan added, 'Let us wait for the results of the law's implementation, analyze the practice professionally, after which it will be clear whether corrections are necessary or not.'
