Swiss 'Berner Zeitung' Did Not Receive Government Funding for Article

The Swiss newspaper 'Berner Zeitung' published an extensive article about Armenia in its January 7 issue. Titled 'Armenia is Reaping the Fruits of Revolution,' the article reflects on the revolution that took place in the country and assesses its outcomes positively.

Today, reports surfaced in the media suggesting that the article was of a commercial nature and cost 6.9 million drams. The Information Verification Center contacted the editorial office of the newspaper, which stated that the publication does not have a commercial nature and has no client.

‘We affirm that the article does not carry any commercial character and was written without any commission,’ the editorial office responded.

The Government's Department of Information and Public Relations also stated that no commission was made to the 'Berner Zeitung' for any article, and that no funds were allocated from the state budget for the aforementioned publication.
