Investigation Conducted Involving Hrayr Tovmasyan
An investigation was conducted yesterday involving Hrayr Tovmasyan, the President of the Constitutional Court. "The process took quite a long time, it was interrupted at the initiative of the investigator, we left the premises of the Special Investigation Service, returned at the appointed time, left the service's premises again, and presented ourselves once more," said Amram Makinian, Hrayr Tovmasyan's attorney, in an interview with Aysor.am.
He noted that when assessing the conduct of the Special Investigation Service, he is convinced that the investigative body is verbally clarifying with the defense team and Hrayr Tovmasyan when it would not be convenient for them to appear for questioning, and at that time, they receive a notification to appear for questioning. "I am already convinced that there is an attempt to artificially create grounds for the claim that, supposedly, Hrayr Tovmasyan is not appearing for questioning, or the defenders are not appearing for questioning," said Amram Makinian.
Tovmasyan's attorney emphasized that considering that an illegal criminal prosecution has started, they do not rule out that unlawful processes may continue. "We do not rule out that the investigative service may initiate an obviously illegal arrest," said Amram Makinian.
It is noteworthy that Hrayr Tovmasyan has been charged under Part 2 of Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code (Abuse of official powers resulting in severe consequences).
