Corruption Case Discovered in the State Revenue Committee

An investigation by the State Revenue Committee's investigative department has uncovered a corruption-related crime under the Armenian Criminal Code, Article 188, Part 3, Clause 1. It has been established during the pre-trial investigation that an individual entrepreneur, without the necessary permits, was engaged in entrepreneurial activities by constructing and selling residential houses. Having received various orders, the person constructed and sold multiple residential houses in Yerevan, including one for which they received $27,000 (equivalent in local currency) from the client.

However, during 2013, while illegally constructing the residential house, employees from the local administrative district prohibited the illegal construction activities. In order to continue the construction work, the individual conducting the construction reached an agreement with an official of the local administrative district, transferring to them $3,000 received from the client for the purpose of bribery. After this payment, the individual resumed the illegal construction activities without further hindrance and completed the residential house.

Based on the factual data obtained through investigative and procedural actions conducted during the pre-trial investigation, the circumstances of giving, receiving, and mediating a bribe have been established. Consequently, a new criminal case has been initiated in the State Revenue Committee under the Armenian Criminal Code, Articles 311, Part 4, Clause 2, 312, Part 3, Clause 1, and 313, Part 1, and the investigation is ongoing.
