The Decision to Extend the Detention of Gagik Khachatryan Has Been Appealed
The decision to extend the detention of former Chairman of the RA State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan has been appealed to the Court of Appeals by the defense team. This was reported by Haykakan Zhamanak.
However, the appeal has not yet been reviewed. The last extension of Khachatryan’s detention was on December 25, when the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction granted a motion from the National Security Service.
Gagik Khachatryan is accused of embezzlement in particularly large amounts and abuse of office. He has been in custody since August 30, 2019.
Also implicated in the same criminal case is Gagik Khachatryan's nephew, Karen Khachatryan, who is accused of embezzlement of particularly large amounts as well. Karen Khachatryan is also in custody.
