Taxpayer Must Submit Tax Calculation: Ananyan

The chairman of the State Revenue Committee, David Ananyan, summarizes the activities of 2019 by presenting performance indicators. According to the chairman of the SRC, the basis for the 2019 state budget was set at a gross domestic product (GDP) figure of 6 trillion 756 billion drams, of which 20.75% was planned as tax revenues.

“This means that together we generated about 6.7 trillion gross domestic product in 2019, of which 20.75% will be redistributed within society. In other words, we will pay taxes and implement social programs through them,” said the SRC chairman.

In 2019, the SRC returned 42.8 billion drams in VAT to taxpayers. According to David Ananyan, the total amount was 56.4 billion drams.

“As of January 1, 2020, the debt to taxpayers for that 56.4 billion is 11.3 billion, of which about 6 billion has been confirmed as non-returnable as a result of audits and inspections, and in 2-3 cases, a criminal-legal assessment will be given regarding the previous behavior of taxpayers,” Ananyan informed.

David Ananyan recalled that the actual performance of tax revenues in 2018 was declared revolutionary, which was justified. “If you remember, until January 1, 2018, the tax revenues of the state budget were considered to be those taxes actually paid to the state budget. During 2018, we transitioned from a cash method to a semi-accounting method. This means that the taxpayer must submit a tax calculation that reflects the tax liability to the state, and if the tax liability is paid by the taxpayer, then the actually declared and paid amount is considered tax revenue, and since 2018, we have followed this path,” stated David Ananyan.
