Radiology Department Head Dismissed from Hospital: 'I Am Included in the List of the Black Ones'
Arman Grigoryan, the head of the Radiology Department at the Surb Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center, will no longer work at the hospital starting February 18, 2020. He announced this on his Facebook page.
“Dear patients, colleagues, and friends, I would like to inform you that I have been notified that I must no longer work at the Surb Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center as of February 18, because a decision has been made to dissolve my position. It remains unclear and unacceptable to me as a doctor who decided, why, and based on what logic this decision was made.”
He continued, “It is unclear and unacceptable because I have been working as a doctor for over 20 years, half of my life, of which 10 years I served as the head of the department. Besides fulfilling my mission and calling to heal people, I do not understand or accept any other games.”
“With pride and dignity, I have led the Radiology Department of the largest multi-profile medical center in the Republic of Armenia for 10 years, being the only specialist in the department with an academic degree. And today, certain individuals decided that my position as the head of the radiology department is unnecessary and should be reduced.”
“Upon receiving the notification, I involuntarily recalled the events that unfolded in our medical center starting in 2018. Since then, there have been ‘our people’ and ‘your people’ at the medical center, or as it is commonly referred to, the 'blacks' and 'whites.' I have factually been included in the list of the 'blacks' and on September 7, 2019, the newly formed board of directors made a decision to dissolve my position, which I was informed about on December 18, 2019.”
“I cannot say that the decision was unexpected for me, as during my work with the new management, I was reminded many times of the fact of having protected the previous director (which I do not regret, as I believe that the contribution of every medical worker should be valued). I have been ‘offered’ many times to make a deal for the sake of maintaining my job in exchange for my younger brother’s ‘silence.’”
“Despite the fact that in a democratic country, upon taking power, the ruling force bears the responsibility for ALL (regardless of political views), I, as a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, have not felt this in my daily life.”
“And finally, the most important thing, I have proudly worn the white coat for 20 years; it is my calling and mission. I will say more: I will remain true to my calling and continue my work with dignity and pride. I am convinced that everyone should engage in their professional activity; therefore, the effectiveness of any changes occurring in the country should be felt by individuals in their work environment.”
“I made this post to inform you that I am changing my workplace and will additionally inform you about my new place of work,” Grigoryan wrote.
