In Lori, a Homeowner's Mouth Was Taped Shut While Money Was Stolen
The investigation into a residential burglary case in the Lori region has been completed by the investigative department of the Lori Regional Investigation Committee. Charges have been brought against two individuals.
As a result of investigative actions conducted during the pre-trial proceedings, a number of circumstances regarding the incident were clarified. Two residents of the Lori region, born in 1991 and 1999, had prior knowledge that an elderly resident of the same region was engaged in livestock farming and had a stable income from selling milk. Knowing that the entrance door to the residence was generally left unlocked in the evening, they agreed in advance to illegally enter his villa for the purpose of secretly stealing cash to pay off accumulated debts.
To carry out their intentions, on November 23, 2019, around 2 AM, they illegally entered the villa's yard by climbing over the adjacent iron fence with the intent of secretly stealing property from the elderly man's house. Then, taking advantage of the unlocked entrance and the fact that the homeowner was asleep, they illegally entered the living room located on the first floor of the house. In order to remain unnoticed and to neutralize the homeowner's voice in case he woke up, they taped his mouth shut with adhesive tape that they had brought with them. Afterward, they secretly stole cash from the living room closet and fled the scene.
Based on the combination of sufficient evidence, a 29-year-old man and a 20-year-old young man have been charged under point 1.1 of the third part of Article 177 of the RA Criminal Code. A signature not to leave has been chosen as a measure of restraint against them. The conclusion of the investigation has been announced, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
Notice: The suspect or the accused in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia, under a judicial ruling that has entered into legal force.
